Galveston County Substance Abuse Coalition

The Substance Abuse Coalition facilitates countywide education on substance abuse prevention and intervention, and violence prevention and reduction. Additionally, it promotes safe and healthy living among youth. The Coalition meets monthly and membership is open to all persons and organizations in Galveston County. The Substance Abuse Coalition initiated and sponsors the Annual Galveston County Youth Festival, the mission of which is to support youth in their decision to choose a drug-free and violence-free lifestyle, and to provide youth with information and strategies for making healthy decisions for themselves. The Substance Abuse Coalition also has other projects underway, including a Family Pledge Project to reduce underage and binge drinking and provision of lists of contact persons for school staff and students who need information or referral regarding issues of drugs, peer pressure, abuse, STDs, or other critical information.

Funded by private contributions.
