Runaway & Homeless Youth Program

The Children’s Center, Inc. operates a Runaway and Homeless Youth program through a “Basic Center Grant” which was awarded to the organization by the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services, Administration for Children and Families, Runaway and Homeless Youth Program. The Runaway and Homeless Youth program is designed to serve “non-system” children and youth or those who are not being served by CPS or other governmental systems. Outreach activities are conducted to identify and serve runaway and homeless youth in need of shelter and other “gateway services” to meet their needs. The program also reaches youth through Project Safe Place and when shelter is needed, through host homes that are operated to provide these children and youth with emergency shelter.  These programs are operated in the greater Houston – Galveston County areas in a region composed of 13 Texas Gulf Coast area Counties.
